You're Next is about a family that goes from celebrating a momentous occasion to fighting for their lives as they are terrorized by a group that is identified only by the animal masks (sheep, wolf, and tiger) they wear.
This movie reminded me a lot of the movie, The Strangers; similar plot, the killers wore masks, the home was in an isolated area, etc. So, here are my takeaways:
What I loved:
1. The parts that made me jump (after all, that is the point of a scary movie, right?)
2. The parts that made me laugh. I mean laugh, for real. Weird, right?
3. The family wasn't completely defenseless (sorry, to tell you more would give it away).
What I didn't love:
1. Way too predictable (yeah, all "scary movies" are these days, but, this one REALLY was).
2. Not much of a plot (again, I know I was reaching, but still).
Rating: 2.5/5 stars - This is more of a horror movie to me vs. scary. There was a bunch of gore and violence (and laughter, gotta mention that again), but, outside of a few jumping moments (which were really good), there were more "ewwww" and "yuck" moments to me.
